Blue Heron Production is based in Cleveland, Ohio. We utilize four primary means to communicate positive community change and business innovation: oral history, videography, photography, and writing.

History

The Great Blue Heron, with its pre-historic looks and gangly physique, is a still but powerful presence in the water. They move slowly and deliberately. They are keen observers of the world around them, utilizing near 360 degree vision to achieve a full picture of their environment. When hunting, they stand still for long periods of time and then strike quickly as prey presents itself.

Having observed and been inspired by these magnificent birds, I take a similar approach to my creative work, whether gathering oral histories of individuals at the forefront of Cleveland’s urban agriculture renaissance, photographing the bounty of natural life around Cleveland, writing about the natural history of urban neighborhoods, or filming a group of bicyclists discovering their city.

Like the Great Blue Heron, my work is based on observation, amplifying the people working to better their neighborhoods, and sharing these experiences to build stronger and more inter-connected communities.
